Col du Bretaye Hike

On Tuesday the weather broke and I was treated to the spectacular views of the valley and mountains for the first time. I decided to go on a hike with some other people staying at the hostel. We walked up the road to Villars and then hiked up to the Col du Bretaye which is within the ski resort of Les Diablerets/Glacier 3000. Clouds had started to build by the time we reached the top so the views weren't as good as I had hoped they would be. On a clear day you can see Mont Blanc and other parts of the high alps. There was a restaurant at the top of the pass and we all sat down and had a beer. It was a fun hike. I decided to continue up a little higher by myself. I climbed a few hundred feet higher up the mountain and ended up in a big cloud with no views whatsoever. Oh well. It felt good to be back in the mountains.
